JP Wind will present each of the new sub-programme in a new serie of 1 hour-webinar :
The first one will be focus on SP3 Wind Energy System Integration. The discussion will be led by John Olav Tande (SINTEF) and Konstanze Kölle (SINTEF), coordinator and vice-coordinator of the sub-programme.
The large-scale integration of wind energy is a significant challenge in the coming decades. The IEA Net-Zero Emissions Scenario defines the global need to increase the share of wind energy in the total electricity generation from 6% in 2020 to 35% in 2050. This makes wind energy, and particularly offshore wind, one of the key renewable technologies towards climate neutrality. The EU has the target to reach 300 GW offshore wind capacity by 2050, adding up to 450 GW including the UK and Norway. This expected development towards 100% renewable energy generation represents a fundamental change in the European power and energy systems. Such a change comes with a need for research and innovation to ensure an affordable and reliable energy supply.
